I have no idea what it really means.” \nEvery denomination says making disciples is the main priority. But discipleship can be a mystifying thing. What does it really mean? How can it be a gift\, rather than a stumbling block?\nAnd\, even if we have an inkling of its meaning\, what is really different about Christian disciples? In our lived experience? \nAfter all\, in many ways people of faith\, no faith or some faith seem to live quite similar lives. We are born\, we work\, we shop\, we sleep\, we love\, we struggle\, we laugh\, we cry\, we pay taxes (perhaps!) and we die (definitely!). If you’re interested in the questions ‘What difference does this make?’ Or ‘What is the way?’ this HSTM morning is for you. It is a little bit about what Christians believe\, but it is more about how what Christians believe shapes our lives. \nGuy Donegan-Cross will introduce two books he has published this year with BRF: Discipleship: Start this Way and Discipleship: Walk this Way as a way of exploring these questions. Both books are available to order now at brfonline.org.uk/guy-donegan-cross. \nSpeaker Bio \nGuy is currently Enabler of Learning for Discipleship and Mission for Church of England Birmingham\, where he has responsibility for resourcing a culture of discipleship across a hugely diverse area. He has engaged in parish ministry in four different contexts\, most recently leading St Mark’s\, Harrogate. He is chair of the Simeon’s patronage trust\, with responsibility for the patronage of 180 livings across England. He is passionate about discipleship\, the relationship between charismatic and contemplative spirituality\, and political and environmental concerns. He loves amateur dramatics\, improvisation\, live music\, novels\, walking\, jazz\, and his Norfolk Terrier Bess.
