Dr David Instone-Brewer: “Divorce and remarriage in bible times and today”

We welcome Dr David Instone-Brewer who is Senior Research Fellow in Rabbinics and the New Testament at Tyndale House in Cambridge. His title is ‘Divorce and Remarriage in Bible times and today’. He will examine what the Bible says about divorce, as it would have been understood by the original readers of the New Testament. David has written widely on this subject and Cornerstone Bookshop will as usual be present selling some of his titles as well as other books of theological interest.

His understanding of the Rabbinic dispute about the interpretation of Deuteronomy 24:1 gives us the context to interpret Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 19 and to deal with pastoral issues around marriage and divorce today.
