The major theme of Jesus’ teaching and ministry in the synoptic gospels is the kingdom of God while in the New Testament letters the meaning and significance of Christ’s crucifixion is prominent. We will explore why this should be so and how the twin emphases of the crown (kingdom) and cross (atonement) fit with each other and indeed are inextricably linked.
